“Trials have shown that compared to steel
buoys, Eason Marine lightweight buoys can save
port authorities and harbours up to £4,500
each over five years in servicing costs,”
states Peter Eason, developer of the buoys. “Further
savings of up to £90,000 over five years
could be achieved from a reduction in service
boat and crew demands.”
XJF Plastics has developed a range of buoys and
navigational aids for use in some of the busiest
sea-lanes and harbours in the world. The three
meter Class 2 buoy allows the capability to include
solar panels, temperature, wave and current monitoring
equipment. All buoys are also designed with safety
in mind, for example non-slip surfaces can be
applied to the floating section, and safety handrails
can be attached to the Daymark where appropriate.
The buoys are highly durable and have a long lifecycles.
“Eason Marine buoys have demonstrated their
position as the market leaders in the lightweight
category,” asserts XJF Plastics Managing
Director, Paul Fairhurst. “The commercial
benefits of lightweight buoys are indisputable.
Cost savings are massive and XJF Plastics are
convinced that performance easily rivals that
of steel.”
